Stowe Farm Pediatrics is thrilled to be partnering with Jennifer Carrier, MSN, FNP-C, ANLC, previously of Supported Starts Lactation, to offer comprehensive lactation support in the Grand Traverse and Leelanau region! You do not need to be a member of Stowe Farm Pediatrics to utilize our lactation services.
Stowe Farm Pediatrics Lactation offers full-spectrum and evidence-based lactation services, including prenatal education and consultation and specialized consultations tailored to particular concerns such as bottle refusal and exclusive pumping.
Unlike other local lactation services, we are also able to offer diagnosis and treatment of common lactation-related conditions such as mastitis and thrush.

If anything about nursing feels uncomfortable, overwhelming, or just off — this consult is for you. Common reasons parents schedule a consult include: pain with breastfeeding, breast pain, infant weight loss or slow weight gain, and/or general questions about breastfeeding and lactation.

30-90 minute appointment, depending on need
A thorough health history of both you and your baby
Feeding observation including evaluation of latch & positioning
Pre- and post-feed weights
Infant oral exam
Personalized supplementation recommendations, if needed
Discussion and treatment of common lactation-related conditions such as thrust, mastitis, and vasospasm
Flange sizing
Personalized pumping education and plan
Strategies for bottle feeding & bottle refusal
Time for any additional questions!
Detailed report for your baby’s physician
2 weeks of follow up via secure mesaging
After the visit, you’ll receive a personalized care plan and 2 weeks of real-time support via secure text messaging.

A great opportunity for expectant parents to learn the basics of breastfeeding in a relaxed and personalized setting. If you’ve had challenges with breastfeeding in the past, we can talk through what happened and create a plan to support a smoother experience this time around.

Yes! We are happy to support you and help you meet your feeding goals no matter how your baby is being fed.

We do not bill insurance for lactation services. However, we can provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. You will still need to pay up front when requesting a Superbill. FSA and HSA payments can be used.

We are able to offer some discounted visits on a limited basis. We want our services to be available to as many people as possible, so if cost is a barrier please reach out to discuss options.
